House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Jodie Arlington has been praised by R-Texas’ Jodie Arlington for the role he played in passing the big beautiful bill. But lawmakers say this is not the end, but the beginning of spending reform.
“We won’t get a balanced budget and we won’t even be able to put a path to a balanced budget and a path to a sustainable fiscal trajectory on one settlement bill,” Arrington told Fox News Digital. “We’re way below the broken path of evil and irresponsible financial action. We’re too deep in a debt hole for one bill to do that.”
Arlington, whom House Speaker Mike Johnson called “the House’s major budget hawk,” said he was “obsessed” with tackling deficit spending, which he considers as the biggest threat to America’s future. He believes that dealing with the country’s situation in an effective way means creating “conditions for growth of the economy.”

House Republicans show that they “take action” with Trump’s “big, beautiful bill”
“So, pro-possessing policies, tax cuts, labor incentives, opening up energy assets, deregulation of the energy economy, all of these growth policies will rekindle economic growth.
The big, beautiful bill journey to President Donald Trump’s desk was not pretty as the law received criticism from both sides of the aisle and sparked tensions among Republicans.

What’s actually in Trump’s “big beautiful bill”
Elon Musk, Thomas Massie, R-Ky. and others argued that they have not taken appropriate measures to reduce government spending. Arlington said he values Massie, Musk and other critics, but thinks the risk of losing the “good thing” of the bill is too high. Ultimately, Texas lawmakers view this trade-off as a “permanent growth tax policy” in exchange for additional expenditures in the law.
“I think there’s a big gap in the information and there’s accurate information. Part of that is that the Congressional Budget Office puts out these big numbers… There’s an additional deficit of 2.5 trillion or 3 trillion dollars in the additional deficit that will be added to the 10-year budget window as a result of this bill. Growth promotion policy.”

Trump signed the bill with a deadline of July 4th, just one day after the House passed the final version of the $3.3 trillion law.
Before signing the bill, the president said it would “promote massive economic growth” and “lift the hardworking citizens who run the country.”

So, what will be next on the Budget Chairman’s agenda? As he told Fox News Digital, “or three, or “reduce spending, reduce spending, reduce spending.”
“We didn’t fall into this mess overnight. We won’t get out of the night, but we’ll never get out of the night, but we’ll never get out of the political will to do what we all say in our campaign,” Arlington told Fox News Digital. “I think we have established a great model for regaining financial health, and we have to keep doing that again and again in the future.”
