Several House Democrats, including members of “Squad,” criticized the US at a meeting in Mexico City over the weekend, questioning us about their influence and policy, and one lawmaker said she was more proud of her Guatemalan than Americans.
The second annual Panamerican Congress brought left-wing personnel from North and South America. Participants included Democrats. It included Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tribe of Michigan, Ayana Presley of Massachusetts, Summer Lee of Pennsylvania, and Jess Gilbert Garcia and Delia Ramirez of Illinois.
All are members of the Progressive Caucus of Parliament.

In her remarks at the opening of the event, Ramirez spoke about the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration and her own ancestors.
“I’m proud of Guatemalan before I became an American,” she declared in Spanish. Lawmakers also accused the United States of “prioritizing imperialism, militarization, conquest, domination and attempts to rule.”
On her website, Ramirez, the child of immigrant parents, said her husband is illegally in the country, saying that she is “the only member of Congress in a mixed-status marriage and will fight for the rights and comprehensive immigration reform of dreamers like her husband Boris.”
The White House condemned the comments made by Ramirez and her fellow Democrats.
“These Democrat comments are sleazy and underscore their commitment to keeping Americans alive,” White House spokesman Liz Houston told Fox News Digital. “In contrast, President Trump is tirelessly working to secure peace deals, deport illegal alien criminals, and advance American interests both domestically and internationally.”

Fox News Digital, as well as several lawmakers who attended the summit, contacted Ramirez’s office.
In addition to immigration, speakers also expressed their opinions on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Colombia’s Deputy Minister of Multilateral Business, Mauricio Jaramiro Jasil praised Tlaib during his speech, calling her a “symbol of resistance” and urged him to receive a standing ovation once he was finished speaking.
The summit was organized by leaders of Progressive International, a radical left-wing group that described as a “virus” that must “erape” capitalism, in collaboration with Morena, Mexican ruling left-wing party.

Mexican Senator and Morena member Gerald Fernandez Noronya called for “persecution” of American immigrants under the Trump administration.
He called it an unfair, infamous, false persecution of “an immigrant, you are persecuted just because of your skin color and nationality.”
“They were not only incarcerated, but also sent to prisons such as Crocodile Alcatraz, which have been banned since World War II,” he said. “The US government is lamenting drug use, but hasn’t seen the single attacks they’ve made on immigrants against drug-selling people in the US.”
In a television interview before the event, David Adler, general coordinator at Progressive International and one of the Summit’s main coordinators, said the summit’s intention was to shift authority from Washington, D.C. to developing countries in the face of authoritarian and fascist threats.

On its website, the Progressive International described the United States as “a lynchpin of its empire’s violence, a position that has been carefully constructed for two centuries.”
The group cited US military facilities overseas and the large Pentagon budget.
“U.S. militarism maintains deep political tensions around the world. Its intervention has destroyed the state after the state, leaving a trajectory of violence and sadness that followed,” the website says. “Ending American militarism means saving lives.”
