First on FOX: The new House GOP bill creates a “safety net” of federal funds for immigration and customs enforcement to help with emergencies.
R-Ohio Rep. Michael Rulli told Fox News Digital that it is introducing a bill to establish a Border Enforcement Trust Fund using federal revenue from gambling excise taxes.
The law reroutes approximately $300 million per year, which is currently in the U.S. Treasury General Fund through taxes on gambling businesses.

He said it will help the Trump administration, as federal authorities face anti-immigrant enforcement riots in Los Angeles and face this week.
“In the last 48 hours, I have seen hatred this summer, and what I saw a few years ago is happening again in Los Angeles.
He also argued that it could meet the emergency needs of immigration authorities, but Congress is weighing President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Building.”

“It was a shame to receive all the money and put it in the General Fund. [needs]the number one we all have seen in this last election is the number one issue in the country,” Ruri said.
This bill will have a longer chance of success in the Senate. In the Senate, at least a few Democrats will be needed to reach the Senate 60-vote threshold.
Democrats wouldn’t want to give Trump that power over emergency funds.

Ruri said he has not encountered any important opposition among his colleagues at home.
The bill is one of several introduced by House Republicans this week after riots in Los Angeles and wider anti-ice protests across the country.
