House Republicans have summoned USA Fencing (USFA) Board of Directors Speaker Damien Lehfeldt to force him to testify before Congress at a hearing examining the participation of transgender women in biologically women’s sports.
The subpoena said that after U.S. Fencing CEO Phil Andrews told the subcommittee about implementing government efficiency, which is scheduled to hold a hearing on May 7, Lehfeldt’s apparent refusal to cooperate was reportedly made an official statement online, indicating that he intended to attend the hearing.
“Under the Ted Stevens Act, [National Governing Body]- When engaged in sports interest and participation in a subpoena associated with subpoena signed by GOP House director James Comer, such as the USFA, it is necessary to provide equal opportunities for athletes regardless of sex. Therefore, the subcommittee is investigating whether additional legislation on the requirements of NGB for amateur sports, such as the USFA, is necessary to address these issues. ”

Lehfeldt and Andrews have publicly expressed their support for allowing trans women to compete in biological women’s sports teams. The House Republican subpoena Lefeld’s decision follows an incident in which a female fencer named Stephanie Turner was punished by USA Fencing for refusing to compete with her transgender competitors earlier this year.
Turner refused to compete with his transgender competitors, who previously competed in the men’s division at the regional tournament in March. Video of her on the iconic knee, as she finally wins the “Black Card,” the fencing’s toughest penalty, and eventually she wins the “Black Card,” which went viral after the incident.

“Personally, I see it quite often in fencing,” Turner said after the incident. “I have witnessed transgender swordsmen at women’s tournaments and women’s tournaments in various age categories, especially Y-14 (youngest age group).”
Fox News Digital reached out to USA Fencing for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
