Exclusive: The chairperson of the House Intelligence Email Committee has urged Americans across the country to practice “a higher degree of vigilance and situational awareness” as concerns about the possible US terrorist threat to the situation in the Middle East.
R-Ark. Rick Crawford, chairman of the group, told Fox News Digital that Americans “need to feel situational awareness and understand that there are people outside the United States who are trying to harm us.”
President Donald Trump ordered US troops to attack three key Iranian nuclear bases over the weekend. The mission was considered a success by the majority of Republicans and some Israeli Democrats.
The targeted strike, which US officials say is not an act of war, came after a week of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. Israel warned that Iran is dangerously close to nuclear weapons, launching a preemptive attack in and around Tehran earlier this month, killing some of the Islamic regime’s best military personnel and nuclear scientists.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford urges Americans to be vigilant without “living in fear.”
The Department of Homeland Security issued a memo warning about “an increasing threat environment” over the Israeli-Iran conflict shortly after the US attack. Meanwhile, NBC News reported that Iran threatened to activate US sleeper cells if attacked.

Crawford, who oversees the US intelligence news community, has condemned the previous Biden administration’s actions in recent years for creating an illegal immigration crisis that he said could have allowed bad actors to enter the US.
“We know historically that Iran is a major national sponsor of terrorism. During the Biden era, hundreds of Iranians were allowed to come in and were barely checked,” he said.
“We don’t necessarily have a good read about where they are or what their intentions are. [counter-intelligence] American attitude. ”

On Congress, Crawford said the Intelligence Report Recognition Act for the following fiscal year would broadly address the higher terrorist environment in the United States.
“We want to step up us [counter-intelligence] “Stay in your home and across federal law enforcement companies, make sure they have the right attitude and resources to deal with that threat,” he said.
Arkansas Republicans also urged Americans to remember Iran “trying to instill a sense of fear” with the threat.
“I think if the US has terrorist cells, we can act at some point. I don’t think that’s anything on the scale of 9/11, but as the name suggests – it’s going to be designed to give terrorism and cause economic fallout and social disruption and things,” he said.
Nevertheless, he warned Americans to live everyday life, especially in large public spaces, where they are aware of their surroundings.

“If, say, something doesn’t feel right… don’t go there. Trust your judgment about it. So just because you live in Arkansas like me doesn’t necessarily mean you’re insulated from the threat,” he said.

“That doesn’t necessarily mean you should live in fear. It means you trust your instincts if you think something is wrong, if you have the feeling that something may be out of place. You probably need to call law enforcement.
In the meantime, Crawford said he and the Intelligence News Committee were seeking more information from federal officials.
“Absolutely, we’ve been engaging with the intelligence community and gaining better insight into what’s going on and updating the information in real time,” he said.
