While firefighters continue to work to extinguish wildfires that have swept through Los Angeles County, SoCalGas has begun restoring natural gas service to homes that survived the fire.
Slowly but surely, engineers are patrolling areas that survived the Palisades and Eaton fires. In a post updated on its website Tuesday, the utility company said:
“Since last week, SoCalGas has been working closely with first responders around the clock to assess the impact of the fire on our infrastructure and maintain safe conditions for our residents, employees and the public.”
As efforts continue to fully restore gas to affected areas, homeowners should be wary of potential scammers looking to take advantage.
Things to be careful about to avoid falling victim to fraud
SoCalGas will notify you if your area is subject to service restoration. The restore process typically takes approximately 1 hour. Please ensure that any technicians claiming to be with SoCalGas have proper credentials and identification. If you are unsure of a technician’s legitimacy, contact SoCalGas to verify.
A basecamp has been set up at Santa Anita Mall to address any concerns or questions customers may have. The community information booth is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at Gate 8. The address is 400 S. Baldwin Ave. in Arcadia.
