The latest storms brought heavy rain, snow and tornadoes to Southern California, making it not enough to alleviate drought conditions, but many parts of the area have achieved much needed precipitation.
During the 48 hours between Tuesday and Thursday, downtown Los Angeles received about 1.19 inches of rain, and the Sepulveda Canyon in Malholland Drive near Getty Center was soothed by 1.43 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
The Crystal Lake area of San Gabriel Mountain in Southern California saw the most moisture in the 2.95 inches during the same period.
Despite the flooded week, Los Angeles County is Southern California, and according to US drought monitors, it is far from getting normal levels of rainfall.
Los Angeles County is considered to be in a “severe drought” as of Thursday, with some parts in extreme droughts.
The orange and ventura were under similar conditions. San Bernardino County was considered moderately dry, but the large strip of Riverside County was in extreme drought.
