June 6th was not a normal Friday in Los Angeles.
Federal agents arrested people in and around downtown Los Angeles. One day, a worker near Home Depot in Westlake works in the Ambience Apparel fashion district.
The U.S. Lawyer’s Office says there was a search warrant related to a worker with fake documents. Just as words spread about immigrant arrests were spread, so were fear, confusion and anger.
Later that night, a large crowd gathered at a federal building, calling for an end to the migrant raid. There were several destroyed buildings and violent confrontations with officers.
Saturday, June 7th: Protests and violence in Paramount
Reports of immigration enforcement near Home Depot in Paramount, a Southern Los Angeles County community, attracted hundreds of protesters.
The FBI shared a video showing someone throwing rocks at the car. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed it had arrested 118 people during last week’s immigration operation.
Protests continued into the evening in downtown LA.
NewsChopper4 was overhead when protesters and federal officials clashed on Paramount on Saturday.
Sunday: Federal National Guard Arrivals
The National Guard, called by President Donald Trump, arrives in Los Angeles, which has been assigned to protect federal buildings. Local law enforcement is heading down the city’s path as protests continue, including outside the federal detention center where security guards are located.
Protesters blocked parts of the 101 highway near the federal building. People have led self-driving taxis to the fire.
Mayor Karen Bass reflected the governor’s sentiment and expressed support for the immigrant community but condemned the destruction.
National Guard members arrived in downtown LA in response to the violent protests. It will be broadcast on the Los Angeles weekend on Sunday, June 8th, 2025.
Monday: Ice attack continues, protests expand
Immigration enforcement continued around the area, including Santa Ana, where workers were arrested.
The federal government has confirmed that 1,700 National Guards are deployed in the LA area, and 700 U.S. Marines have been revitalized to support efforts to protect federal agents and property.
California sued the Trump administration over what is called illegal federation of the California State Guard.
As with vandalism, there was a vigorous, almost peaceful protest. Overnight, looting broke out.
More demonstrations are scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles due to continued anti-ice protests. Lauren Coronado is reporting NBC4 News at 6am on June 10, 2025.
Tuesday: Curfew orders in downtown LA
Twenty-three businesses have been looted, ranging from sushi bars to Apple stores and jewellers in the downtown area. The mayor of Bus called a curfew from 8pm to 6am at about one square mile in downtown, the city surrounding roughly 500 square miles.
The immigrant arrests continued. Federal authorities pursued farm workers in Oxnard.
Despite Mayor Karen Bass’s downtown Los Angeles, several demonstrators continued to rally against the immigrant raid. Robert Kovacik is reporting NBC4 News on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 11pm.
Wednesday: Ice attacks include area washing
Car washes were in the spotlight. In Downey, immigration officers chased the workers. Culver City has gathered people who said their loved one who works in the car wash was arrested on Sunday.
The protest continued. Immigration rights group Chirla estimated that 300 people were in custody for immigrant arrests, but only five people were able to access it.
Meanwhile, law enforcement and prosecutors announce arrests and charges against those who committed crimes during protests, including attacks on police officers.

Thursday: Senator Padilla suspends DHS press conference
California Sen. Alex Padilla has suspended the first in-person press conference held by the Department of Homeland Security in the arrest of LA immigrants. He was pulled out of the room and handcuffed to the ground, but was not arrested.
The DHS was in their position, saying they were seeking undocumented immigrants who committed crimes and would not leave Los Angeles any time soon.
The week of anxiety ended on a sudden front, summarizing the confusion and uncertainty of the past seven days. Gov. Newsom celebrated the federal judge’s decision that Donald Trump overreached and failed to take control of the California State Guard. However, the Trump administration immediately sued. Before the night was over, the Court of Appeals allowed him to stay. It left the California State Guard on the president’s control and on the ground in Los Angeles at least until Tuesday.
As the federal government dealt with the recent immigrant raids and protests in Los Angeles, Sen. Alex Padilla, an Indigenous of Angeleno, suspended the press conference and cried out at the SEC. Christini Noem.
Friday: LAPD reports hundreds of arrests
Local governments have arrested more than 500 people for crimes that committed protests around them, including assault, vandalism, looting, failed disbandment and violations of curfews.
