On Saturday, hundreds of runners joined immigration rights advocates, workers and faith leaders and community members to participate in the Ice Resistance Relay, a 15-mile non-violent protest that passes through the city of Los Angeles.
The run began at 8am at Liberty Park in Koreatown and concluded with Laplacian Towel Bela, serving as both a symbolic and physical act of solidarity. Organized as part of a 30-day summer resistance campaign, the relay was intended to honor immigrant families while requesting the end of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and deportation.
The route has passed through neighborhoods such as MacArthur Park, Echo Park, Chinatown and Boyle Heights, which have historically served as the centre of activism and immigrant resilience. The route also passed sites of past ice enforcement measures, including the Home Depot in Wilshire, a fashion district where immigrant raids had previously led to family separation, as well as the fashion district’s union and atmospheric apparel.

Speakers throughout the event include Fayia Ramage, founder of Run Agion Age Ice. Martin Manteca, Director of External Organizations for SEIU Local 721. Juritagarwa is the founder of the Run Club Girls. Youth leaders, workers and immigrant organizations also spoke, calling for permanent protection of immigrant families and end of federal immigration enforcement in the community.
The summer resistance campaign, which was part of the relay, is daily cultural and political mobilization in unity labor, immigration, and community groups in Los Angeles. The campaign includes the removal of federal agents, the release of all detainees, the end of a militarized assault and full protection of immigration rights.
