Over 200 volunteers gathered in South Los Angeles on Saturday morning to clean up nearby parks, businesses and homes as part of Mayor Karen Bass’ Dayline initiative.
Saturday is the second edition of the program, with Bass launched in December 2024, aiming to bring together the mayor’s office staff, high school students and community members to clean up much of Los Angeles.

“Today’s Day of Service LA is about building momentum to clean up our city and prepare to host the world in the coming years for World Cup and Olympic and Paralympic games,” Mayor Bass said. “We are extremely grateful to the partners, community members and volunteers who came out on Saturday morning and came out to create a cleaner and safer Los Angeles.”

According to a media release, the mayor’s office has directed the city’s public works department to make the process more efficient to keep streets and public spaces clean in LA.
