A 16-year-old high school soccer player and his father have been identified by classmates and coaches as the two people killed when a small plane crashed onto the roof of a Fullerton business Friday.
Huntington Beach High School junior soccer player Kelly Reed and her father, Pascal Reed, were identified by the team Friday in a post that described Kelly as “honest and kind” and with a “zest for life.” It was done.
Two family members were in a single-engine van RV-10 aircraft when it crashed Thursday afternoon in the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue, just east of Fullerton Municipal Airport. Pascal Reed is listed as the plane’s registered owner.
“Yesterday, our soccer family suffered an unimaginable loss,” the HBHS soccer team said in an Instagram post Friday. “Kelly Reid and her father Pascal tragically passed away in a plane crash. Kelly was a wonderful girl…a pure and kind girl with a passion for life.”
“Kelly was a beloved member of the national team and wore the number 6 on his jersey. The number 6 symbolizes love, creating harmony and caring for others. Our special number 6. There are no words to describe it better. Kelly was a natural caregiver.” Her father was always proud of his daughter. She will be greatly missed. ”
A vigil in Reed’s memory was held Friday at the church with about 100 of his classmates. A classmate at the wake described Kelly as “fun.”
Classmate and friend Maia Dadakis said, “Kelly will be remembered as the funniest person you can be. I think what I want to pass on from her is her hard work and passion for every little thing she did.” spoke. . “She was loving and kind to everyone.”
Investigators have not released the identities of the two victims of the fiery crash. NBCLA reached out to the Reed family and was told the family was not ready to talk at this time.
19 people working in the building at the time of the accident were injured. Eleven people were taken to hospital and eight were treated and released at the scene.
The pilot had just left the airport and was returning home when the plane crashed into a furniture warehouse.
Details about the cause of the crash were not available Friday afternoon.
