Around 7am to 10am on Friday, witnesses saw an ice officer attack at least three homes stretching from the Pico Integrated Area to South Los Angeles.
One resident told KTLA’s Angeli Kakade that he was inside his home near 10th West when a federal employee brought a warrant to his friend’s mother.
“I just came out of the shower and thought it would be a regular Friday, but the next thing I’m looking at is that there are three of us holding a gun pointing at me,” Elvis Vazquez said. “I was worried about how my little brother would feel because I thought they were going to take my mother away.”
Vasquez said his mother was not in custody, but his friend’s mother was arrested.
“They had a search warrant, so they couldn’t deny it,” Vazquez said.
One witness who wanted to remain anonymous said the agent had confused the house.
“I know they’ve entered the house, the basement and everything, and they caused a huge uproar,” the witness said.
For more than a month before President Trump’s second appointment, federal officials continue to crack down on illegal immigration, arresting people across the country, including Los Angeles.
Neighbors told KTLA they were scared, but initially hoped that officers would pursue criminals.
“People are going to school or walking their dogs, and they just see a lot of trucks coming and taking the whole family together. That’s scary,” the witness said. “We don’t know what to expect anymore. We just want better.”
