ICE is performing target manipulation at Irvine, Citi confirms

The city of Irvine confirmed Thursday that U.S. immigration and customs enforcement agents had implemented targeted immigration enforcement projects at several locations in the city.

“These activities have been confirmed to focus on finding specific individuals under investigation into criminal activity that also violates immigration law,” according to a city statement.

Local officials stressed that the operation was not a widespread attack that only covers immigration situations.

Irvine Councillor Kathleen Torresder is urging undocumented residents and vulnerable individuals to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and contact the OC Rapid Response Network if ICE activities are witnessed. The hotline number is (714)881-1558.

In response to growing uncertainty among residents, the city has revitalized emergency business centres at level 1, implementing protocols to support public safety and law enforcement, addressing the evolving situation. A dedicated city webpage has also been launched to provide updates and legal resources to residents.

Mayor Larry Aglan has issued a statement reaffirming Irvine’s commitment to inclusion and public safety.

“Irvine is a community of inclusion, respect and unity, and it will always be,” Aglan said. “Our residents come from every corner of the world, and we continue to cling to ensuring they feel safe and supported.”

Irvine police have revealed they are not involved in federal immigration enforcement activities. Authorities have reiterated that the department’s mission is to protect and build trust for all members of the community, regardless of the immigration situation.
