Irvine, Calif.-based In-N-Out Burger plans to bring its mustard-grilled burgers and Spiritual Fountain sodas to new cities and states in the coming years, with plans to expand to these in 2025. Several restaurant locations are confirmed to be spread across three states.
The burger chain does not franchise its restaurants, but currently operates primarily in the western half of the United States, with locations primarily in California, Arizona, and Nevada. But there are also outposts in Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and dozens in Texas, the easternmost state where In-N-Out is expanding so far.
The company says In-N-Out’s relatively slow growth (compared to other fast food chains) is rooted in its founder’s “early philosophy.”
In-N-Out locations to close over ‘ongoing crime issues’
“With an unwavering focus on quality and freshness, the company is building stores in close proximity to its four in-house patty manufacturing facilities, which allows its trucks to deliver fresh produce to each restaurant in more than a day. “This is not the case,” In-N-Out’s official website explains.
Nevertheless, In-N-Out plans to open new restaurants in New Mexico, Washington, and Tennessee in the coming years, and is basing its East Coast operations outside of Nashville.
As of now, In-N-Out only has five restaurants scheduled to open in 2025, according to the official website. These restaurants will be used for the following purposes:
Anaheim, CA — 540 N. Euclid St. Carson, CA — 20512 Avalon Blvd. Sylmar, CA — 13864 Foothill Blvd. Nampa, ID — 16225 N. Marketplace Dr., South Salt Lake, UT — 21 E. 2100 S.
However, In-N-Out has previously announced plans to open restaurants in other states in the coming years, including a restaurant in southern Washington that was slated to open “by 2025.” Included.
Company representatives could not immediately confirm whether plans or deadlines for this or other grand openings have changed.
Meanwhile, Tennessee’s first In-N-Out restaurant is scheduled to open in 2026, as well as a new location on the Las Vegas Strip that will be one of the company’s largest restaurants. New Mexico will also have its first-ever In-N-Out “by 2027,” owner Lynsi Snyder said.

While In-N-Out may take time to open new restaurants, customers can usually be confident that existing locations are unlikely to close anytime soon. The company claims it has closed only one restaurant since its founding in 1948, but that restaurant was in Oakland, California, and chief executive said it closed in 2024 due to “ongoing crime issues.” Director Denny Wernick said.
The company said at the time that employees at the restaurant were offered severance packages and the opportunity to move to other restaurants.
“Additionally, while this location remains a busy and profitable location for the company, our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. We cannot ask them to visit or work in dangerous environments,” Wernick said.
