Smiley Fire, which erupted in the Inland Empire on Saturday afternoon, included more than 60% as of Sunday morning, according to firefighters.
Cal Fire has updated its incident page to reflect the great progress that the crew has made in fighting the flames overnight. As of 7:15am on Sunday, the flames contained 65%, only 83 acres.
The fire was reported as a 15-acre vegetation fire near Smiley Boulevard, south of Santimoteo Canyon Road and Redlands, around 2:30pm on Saturday. Initially it spread at moderate speeds and threatened at least one structure, but progression of the advance quickly stopped.

“Firemen will continue to strengthen their containment lines throughout the day,” Cal Fire said Sunday around 7am.

No injuries have been reported. The Smiley Fire incident page shows 100 staff members have been dispatched to fight the flames.
The cause of the flame is under investigation. The crew will remain in the area throughout the day to tackle full containment and control of the fire.
Also, what erupted in the Inland Empire on Saturday was a fire in a large lake burning near Lake Silverwood and Hesperia. As of Sunday morning, the flames were standing on nearly 500 acres.
