An investigation is underway after a private jet nearly collided with a Delta Airlines flight as it took off from the runway at Los Angeles International Airport Friday afternoon.
Recently released video footage shows the moment air traffic control frantically calls out “Stop, stop, stop!” before a taxiing private jet crosses Delta’s departure path.
The jet had just arrived from Spokane, Washington, and was carrying the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team, the LA Times reported.
In a statement obtained by the LA Times, the Federal Aviation Administration said the team’s chartered Embraer E135, operated by Key Lime Air in Colorado, “was attempting to cross a hold bar when a controller I instructed them to stop.”
Footage of the near-collision provided by Airline Video Live shows both planes continuing to appear to be operating normally after coming to a sudden stop.
The FAA, which is investigating the incident, told the LA Times that “the plane never went over the edge of the runway.”
According to ESPN, Gonzaga’s team played against UCLA the next day and lost to the Bruins 65-62.
Authorities reported no injuries to passengers or employees on either flight.
