President Donald Trump said Monday he would “want to talk” about dialing the Israeli-Iran conflict when Iran quickly appeared before reporters alongside the Canadian prime minister at this week’s G7 meeting.
The president commented after asking if Trump had seen or heard “Iran “see or have seen a message from an intermediary who wants to remove the conflict.”
“They want to talk, but they should have done it before,” Trump replied. “But I say Iran hasn’t won this war, and they should talk about it, and they should talk about it just before it’s too late.”

Trump’s comments come amid the ongoing exchange of missile barrages between Israel and Iran. The battle began last week when Israel launched an attack from within Iran, targeting many of Iran’s top military commanders and the country’s nuclear facilities.
Trump reiterated in Monday’s comments from the G7 that he offered Iran for 60 days to sign a new nuclear deal deal that the president suggested was hampering current fighting.
“They said they had 60 days and on the 61st they said, ‘We have no deals,'” Trump said he was standing next to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “They have to make a deal, and that’s painful for both parties.”

When asked what it would take for the US to be involved in the conflict militarily, Trump said, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“We’ve always been supportive of Israel,” Trump added when asked about the material the US is offering Israel amid the attack. “We’ve been strong for a long time and Israel is doing very well now.”

On Monday, the Wall Street Journal showed that Iran has sent messages to Israel and the United States, according to Middle Eastern and European officials, and through Arab intermediaries, it is open to returning to the negotiation table under conditions that the US has not joined Israel in the attack.
