The major fire in a commercial building in Southgate was issued within 40 minutes thanks to brave efforts from firefighters.
According to a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson, the unit was dispatched to the fire at 1:16am on Saturday at the second alarm structure near Firestone Boulevard and Garfield Avenue in Southgate. The location was later updated to the 5900 block of Firestone.

The first unit arrived in the area within three minutes, and it was found that the one-storey building would be on fire. A video posted to the Citizen app shows bold smoke swirling through the night sky as the crew fights the flames.

By 1:57am, the crew had moved into defensive mode, PIO said. It took me a total of 37 minutes to achieve the knockdown after that.
No one was injured in the fire. The cause is not clear.
