Mendy is a headband that claims to help you concentrate, increase mental clarity and reduce stress and anxiety.
“It’s telling you how to visualize your brain and improve it,” said Mendy’s chief evangelist, the “Chief Evangelist.” Use neurofeedback to “train” your brain.
“Neurofeedback is basically the ability to visualize what’s going on in the brain,” explained Bensophia.
It’s a concept that has been around for decades – now packaged in wearables that can be used at home.
“What this does is make better decisions and feel better,” says Bensophia.
To give it a try, I wore a $300 headset. It doesn’t seem that much – it’s rubbery inside and has a sensor that measures brain waves.
There is no vibration. There is no sense. I don’t feel like nothing is happening.
To get started, tap Start Training in the app. It asks how you feel and you start doing some breathing exercises.
After that, start the exercise. This is a simple game to control (or try) with your mind.
Focus on floating balls. The more gentle and focused you are, the higher it will be.
You need to get used to it, especially if it doesn’t seem to be happening on the screen. But the more you do it, the more you can concentrate – and the more you train your brain.
Is it worth $300? It’s hard to say after just a few tries, but the more I played, the better it started to get.
“If you walk shirtless every day, you’ll need a six-pack… That’s not the same as the brain. But yes, everyone can improve their brain through neurofeedback,” concluded Bensophia.
My take? Mendy is like a lot of what we do to keep us healthy – you probably know that’s good for you, but you may not be able to see the profits of your investments right away.
