The US Special Advisors Office (OSC) is investigating former Special Advisor Jack Smith. OSC was checked with Fox News.
Smith was tapped in 2022 by then General Merrick Garland and served as a special advisor on two probes on then-President Former Donald Trump.
The OSC is investigating Smith, who allegedly violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from participating in political activities. It’s not a criminal investigation.
Fox News Digital reached the White House on Saturday for comment but did not receive a response.

Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton recently asked the OSC to find out whether Smith was illegally involved in political activities to influence Trump’s 2024 election.
“I request the Special Advisors Bureau to investigate whether Jack Smith, special advisor to Attorney General Merrick Garland, made political action illegal to influence the 2024 election that harmed then-President Donald Trump,” Cotton wrote on July 30 on behalf of Jamieson Greer.

“Of course, President Trump has beaten Joe Biden, Jack Smith, all Democrats who armed the law against him, but President Trump’s astonishing victory has not excused Smith for his liability for his illegal election interference. Therefore, I ask my special advisor to investigate whether Jack Smith or his team members have acted illegally for political purposes,” Cotton wrote.
