Jamie Lee Curtis has pledged to donate $1 million to support fire relief efforts in Southern California.
The Academy Award-winning actress announced on Instagram Thursday morning that she and her family have launched a fund to support the city.

“The fires are still burning, CalFire and the Los Angeles Fire Department, and all first responders and agencies involved in extinguishing fires and saving lives, are still working hard, and our neighbors and friends are coming together to save each other. My children and I have pledged $1 million from our family foundation to launch a support fund for our great city and state and the great people who live and love it. ” she wrote.
Curtis will work with California Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and Sen. Adam Schiff to consider “where we need to direct these funds to have the greatest impact.” He said he has been in touch.
On Tuesday, the Palisades fire forced Curtis and thousands of others to evacuate their homes.
The “Halloween” actress’ donation came after an emotional appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in New York.
“I’m literally on the verge of tears,” she told the audience.

“As you know, there’s a fire going on where I live right now. Literally the entire city of Pacific Palisades is on fire,” she explained, fighting back tears. “I flew in here last night. I got on the plane and started getting emails and it’s so bad, guys.”
She called the events in Southern California a “catastrophe,” explaining that the markets where she shopped and the schools her children attended were all gone.
“It’s a really bad situation,” she continued. She explained that she plans to return to California on Thursday to be with loved ones and help friends.
The Palisades Fire was named the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history.
As of Thursday morning, the fire had grown to 17,000 acres and could not be contained.
