Papulse Liller’s “Conclave” won the best ensemble at the 31st Vol. Actor Guild Awards on Sunday.
The Guild Top Award-winning Edward Berger Vatican set drama won as the Catholic Church prayed for the health of Pope Francis, who remained critical on Sunday after an asthma respiratory crisis. “Conclave” makes the fictional elections of the new Pope dramatic. In the evening, Isabella Rossellini shared the cast’s finest wishes for Pope Francis.
All the momentum that appeared in the SAG Awards was with Sean Baker’s “Anora.” Now, it’s everyone’s guess that “Conclave” won the actor and Bufftas and that he’ll take the best photo of the week at the Academy Awards.
“Amazing,” he said “Conclave” star Ralph Fiennes was on stage. “I’m not chosen to speak. I’m designated to speak on behalf of our consemble, our consemble.”
It wasn’t the only surprise at the ceremony held in a shrine auditorium in Los Angeles and on streaming where Netflix lives. Chalamet’s Best Actor Winning “Brutalist” star Adrian Brody was upset and put the 29-year-old on the course, possibly winning his first Academy Award.
Chalamet looked visibly surprised when his name was announced at the ceremony. However, once he reached the stage, the “completely unknown” star spoke with calm and confidentness.
“The truth is, this was five and a half years of my life,” Chalamett said. “I poured everything I had in playing this unparalleled artist, true American hero Bob Dylan. That was a lifelong honor to play him.”
He added: “The truth is, I really pursue greatness. I know people don’t normally talk about that, but I want to be one of the greats.”
At the 2025 SAG Awards, Zooey Deschanel accesses Hollywood guest correspondent Lauren Herbert to award the award with fellow “New Girl” alumnus Max Greenfield and what about possible reboots of the line? I shared how I felt.
Other Oscar favourites – Demi Moore, Zoe Saldanya and Kieran Culkin all won. The SAG Awards are being viewed in depth as an Oscar preview. Their picks don’t always match the film academy picks, but they often do most of them.
The final three best ensemble winners – “Oppenheimer”, “All Places”, “Coda” all won the best photos at the Oscars. All but one of the winners of SAG acting in the past three years have won an Oscar. (The only exception was Lily Gladstone, who won the Sag Award for Female Actor for “Killer of the Flower Moon” last year, but the Oscar Trophy went to Emma Stone for “The Poor thing.”)
Moore appears to have solidified his Oscar chances by following the Golden Globe victory in a performance on “The Substance.” Moore traded awards with “Anola” breakthrough Mikey Madison, boosted the campaign by her speech about being a pigeon surrounded by “popcorn actresses.”
“What we believe is much stronger than we think,” Moore said. “The proverb “I believe it when I see it” – the reality is that when I believe it, I will see it. ”
The SAG Awards unfolded against the backdrop of the devastating wildfire that began in early January. These fires forced the guild to cancel the announcement of in-person appointments and launch a disaster relief fund for affected SAG-AFTRA members. Host Kristen Bell introduced the firefighters in attendance as “the most attractive table” in the sea of stars.
Jane Fonda, 87, was given the Guild’s Life Achievement Award, and offered the most passionate political moment of the night. Fonda, a well-known activist, spoke indirectly about President Donald Trump’s administration.
“We’re in the documentary moment,” Fonda said. “It’s this. And it’s not a rehearsal.”
Fonda added, “Wake up means you care about other people.”
“What’s going on, what’s going on will hurt a lot of people,” Fonda said. “We’ll need a big tent to resist what comes us.”
Jean Smart, who defended the Cancellation Awards show for Wildfires, won the best female actor in the “Hacks” comedy series. Smart was not present but took part in a pre-recorded introduction as her character, Deborah Vance.
Also not attended: Martin Short. He upset Jeremy Allen White and won the best male actor in the “The Building’s Only Murder” comedy series. The Hulu series also won the Best Comedian Sumble.
Ethan Slater has nothing but love for his “evil” family! The actor spoke with Access Hollywood guest correspondent Lauren Herbert at the 2025 SAG Awards, rave reviews for his experience working on the film and received so many acclaim during the awards season .
“Wait, we’re never going to win. This is so weird,” Serena Gomez said. “Marty and Steve (Martin) are not here because they really don’t care.”
Colin Farrell won his first SAG award for his performance in “The Penguin” and was also the first recipient to be featured in Jamie Lee Curtis as “the man who gave me covid at the Golden Globes.” I did. Farrell quickly replied “guilty of committing a crime” before accusing Brendan Gleason of giving him.
The first broadcast award of the evening was sent to Culkin. Culkin has won almost every award in the “real pain” category. Holding the SAG trophy he was able to quickly convey the difference.
“It’s funny how the heaviest of all awards is given by the actor,” Culkin said.
Netflix’s “Emilia Pérez” was largely shattered by a controversy over an old tweet by lead actor Karla Sofia Gascón, and won the Oscar’s favourite Saldaña Best Female Supporting Actor Award.
For the second time on streaming Netflix awards, we inserted ads sporadically, like traditional broadcasts. Last year, downtime was dominated by behind-the-scenes interviews. Audio issues sometimes undermined the broadcast, including a brief interruption in Fonda’s speech.
After romping with the Emmies in Golden Globes, “Shogun” maintained its edge. The FX series won Best Drama Series Ensemble, winning awards for Sanada Island, Anna Sawai and Best Stunt Ensemble. The film’s corresponding awards went to stunt performer Ode “The Fall Guy.”
