Vice President J.D. Vice President J.D. Vance met on the second official Saturday of the Vatican in Rome. The pair received “exchanges” on international issues, including immigration and deportation under the Trump administration.
“There was a exchange of views on the international situation, with particular attention to migrants, refugees and prisoners, particularly regarding countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian circumstances,” the Vatican statement said after the meeting.
“Finally, hope was expressed for the peaceful cooperation between the states in the United States and the Catholic Church.
Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, and Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He and Parolyn discussed their shared religious beliefs, American Catholicism, a light letter of persecuted Christian communities around the world, and President Trump’s commitment to restoring world peace,” Vance’s office said.
Pope Francis has cut his official meetings since his match against dual pneumonia.
The Vatican clashed with the Trump administration over promoting deportation, but the holy viewer confirmed good relations with the United States after the meeting.
The Vice President’s Vatican Conference on Saturday is part of an official trip to Italy and India.

Vance arrived in Rome on Friday with Second Lady Ushavance and two young children to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“I am grateful for this job every day, but especially today, my official duties brought me to Rome on Good Friday,” the 40-year-old wrote on his X account on Friday. “I have a great meeting with Prime Minister Meloni and her team and will soon head to the church with my family in this beautiful city. I wish all Christians in the world, but especially those returning to the United States, on a blessed Good Friday.

The meeting came the day after President Trump met with Meloni at the White House to discuss the trade deal.
