The Mississippi man faced up to three years in prison after being told he had creeped up and harassed Jennifer Aniston for more than two years, and culminated in a dramatic incident this week in which she crashed a car through her gate while she was at home, authorities said.
Jimmy Wayne Carweil, 48, of New Albany, Michigan, was charged with one count each of felony stalking and felony vandalism on Wednesday, the LA County District Attorney’s Office announced. He is scheduled to be arrested Thursday.
Kerweil drove to the gates of Bel Air home in Aniston at 12:20pm Monday and was held at muzzle by one of Aniston’s private security guards until police arrived, authorities said. He was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department after being minor injuries in the collision.
Carwyle has been harassing the “friend” actor since March 2023, sending unnecessary messages over social media, voicemail and email.
In addition to the felony charges, he is faced with an exacerbating situation of a major threat of physical harm. Carwyle will face up to three years in prison if convicted of being charged.
Prosecutors intend to request that he be set to $150,000.
“Stalkers are crimes that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous and violent behavior, and can threaten the safety of our victims and our community,” Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “My office is committed to proactively prosecuting people who creep up and terrorize others and ensuring they are held liable.”
Aniston bought a mid-century apartment in 2012 for just under $21 million on a 3.4-acre Bel Aerot, according to a report by Architectural Digest.
The parcel set at the cape has unobstructed ocean and city views, and was reported in 2012.
