On Friday, the cast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” will take place at the Hollywood Bowl without Josh Gad.
The actor announced Thursday that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and would not perform as King Herod.
But as they say, the show had to continue, and another star was tapped to don the crown.
Actor John Stamos revealed in an Instagram post that he would intervene.
“Well… I got the Bible this weekend,” he wrote in the caption along with his photo at rehearsal. “I starred the brilliant Cynthia Eribo as King Herod, the superstar of Jesus Christ in the Hollywood Bowl. King Josh Gado was unexpectedly attacked by Covid (I felt so good, brothers!).
“He said it was ‘honor’ and ‘dream’, but after getting home from a beach boys tour in Spain, he said ‘I’m a bit crazy’ because I only had 24 hours to learn the parts.
“Good luck. I’ll shake the bowl,” he said.
Eribo will play Jesus, while Adam Lambert will play Judas in the production. Showtime is 8pm on August 1st and August 2nd. The August 3rd show will be headed here at 7:30pm for more details.
