House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News on Friday that he was the same people who pushed ice agents to banish themselves during the coronavirus pandemic “people who have mandated masks in America for years” who have pushed ice agents to banish themselves.
Johnson was asked by Fox News that he responded “involving some Democrats.” [House Minority] leader [Hakeem] Jeffries suggests that ice agents arresting some of these immigrants should not wear masks. ”
“From people who mandated people in America for years to wear masks. That’s ridiculous. They need to retreat from the ice, respect our agents and stop protesting against them,” Johnson said. “They are trying to support the rule of law and don’t want to be targeted by Democratic activists, so I’m in favor of any protocol.”
“Ice agents trying to hide their identity from Americans will fail to do that,” Jeffries said Tuesday, saying they will all be identified “no matter how long it takes or what it takes.”

Johnson was then asked on Friday, “Is it okay to have something that doesn’t identify you when you’re arresting immigrants?”
“Why? So that they can target them?” he replied. “So can they put their name and face online and dock them? That’s what these activists do. So we have to protect those who protect our community.
“And it’s ridiculous that calling for ICE for trying to do the job has made it difficult for them to do that for years for members of Congress or other elected leaders.
At a weekly press conference on Friday, Fox News asked Jeffries if they were worried that perhaps some ice agents could endanger the safety of them and their families.
“Officers from the Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, should be kept to the same standards as all other parts of law enforcement in terms of transparency,” said a New York Democrat.

In September 2020, he wrote on Jeffries’ official X account, “It’s not that complicated. Wearing. A. Mask.”
About a year later, in August 2021, Jeffries said, “Get vaccinated. Wear a mask. Smash the virus.”
Two Virginia Democrats, Mark Warner and Tim Kane, also wrote last month to Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem.
“National and in Virginia, law enforcement arrests individuals in sensitive places such as the streets and courts, making masked ice officers and agents with no clearly visible identification. Such actions put everyone at risk and targeted individuals, ice officers, agents and potentially misleading bystanders attempt to intervene,” he said.

“We urge ice officers and agents to quickly and clearly identify as law enforcement officers in arresting subjects, limiting the use of face coverings during arrests and other enforcement actions, to avoid threats and reduce safety risks to the public,” the senator added.
In August 2021, Kane put on a mask and wrote in a Facebook post that she “is deeply concerned about the rapid rise of Covid-19 delta variant infections we are seeing across the Commonwealth,” adding, “We need to do everything we can to stop the spread of the virus and keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.”
“Everyone, keep protecting yourself by getting vaccinated, masking and social distancing.
