House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said on Sunday that President Donald Trump’s Megaville will be “jet fuel” for the economy despite Democrat criticism.
Johnson, who ceremonially handed Trump a small butt after the president signed his signature tax cuts and a signing package to the law on Friday, has now come to pass two future bills next year. Appearing in “Fox News Sunday,” he said the “big, beautiful bill” was the first step in the three-tier strategy, “a big leap into our priorities.” Johnson is hoping for a second settlement bill by fall and a third by the spring before the current legislature ends.
“I think we can do that, so we’ll see more of us moving forward with these common sense principles and provide people with that first American agenda,” Johnson said. “That’s what they chose for us and this was very positive.”
Johnson pushed back the reported Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) memo, claiming that Republicans will lose their majority in 2026 as a result of the “big and beautiful bill.”

“Our Republicans tell the simple truths of the nation and what do you guess? That’s going to be proven,” Johnson said. “Everyone will have more home pay and more jobs and opportunities. The economy will be better and we can point it out as a clear consequence of what we have done.
Speakers include Rep. Locanna, D-Calif, as “old, tired story points” that are commonly used against Republican tax laws. and rejected criticism from DNC Chairman Ken Martin.
Johnson stressed that the bill would forever extend Trump’s tax cuts in 2017. He said that the bottom 20% of incomes witnessed the lowest federal tax rate in 40 years due to these original cuts, and that the new megabil will expand it by cutting tips that would help Republicans in the 2026 medium-term elections, overtime salaries and benefits for seniors.
“We’re giving everyone tax cuts,” Johnson told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream. “And that will be the economy, the jet fuel. Small business owners, entrepreneurs, risk takers, people providing jobs, manufacturers and farmers will be supported here and will grow the economy.”
Citing the Joint Economic Advisors Council, Johnson said the megaville would foster economic growth of 3%, create 4 million jobs and increase take-away wages for the average household by $13,000.
“This is great for people who go to work every day,” Johnson said. “They’ll feel that. And we’re excited about the upcoming election cycle of 26 years, because people will ride economic highs, like they did after the first two years of the first Trump administration. This time it’s on steroids.”

Johnson also argued that while Megabill makes tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, those for the working class are “time sensitive” and “will expire in a few years.”
“Now I don’t think he’s read the bill, it’s 940 pages, so I’ll give it some bounty,” Johnson said in response to Ivy’s claim.
Bream pointed out that Ivy had heard last Sunday while the bill’s text was being read on the Senate floor.

“Yeah, you’re right, 19 hours or whatever it takes,” Johnson said. “Making $30,000 to $80,000 a year means you have a 15% lower federal tax rate, saving you more money and hard-earned money.
Johnson said the bill promotes “growth promotion policies” and constitutes “the largest savings for taxpayers in US history.”

“The bill intends to secure borders forever. We will once again return to American energy control. “We will make important investments in military industrial complexes, so we will cherish peace through strength. This will help us compete with China.”
