New York Judge Juan Marchan has denied President-elect Donald Trump’s request for a postponement of sentencing in New York v. Trump.
“Defendant’s motion to stay these proceedings, including the sentencing hearing scheduled for January 10, 2025, is hereby denied,” Marchand wrote in Monday’s ruling.
Earlier Monday, Trump’s lawyers filed a motion to delay sentencing in the case. President Trump’s sentence is scheduled to be handed down at 9:30 a.m. on January 10, 10 days before the inauguration of the 47th president on January 20.
“Today, President Trump’s legal team moved to block the Manhattan DA’s witch-hunt conviction. The Supreme Court’s historic ruling on immunity, the New York State Constitution, and other established precedents… I am ordering you to immediately reject this worthless fabrication,” President Trump’s press secretary and incoming White House communications director, Stephen Chan, told FOX Digital on Monday morning.

New York judge sentences President Trump days before Inauguration Day
Marchand has already said he would not sentence the president-elect to prison, but instead would sentence him to “unconditional release” with no punishment.
Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the Manhattan incident in May. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office says President Trump paid $130,000 to former porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to silence her claims about an alleged affair with him in 2006. He sought to prove that he had falsified business records to conceal the dollar payments.
New York judge announces unconditional dismissal of Trump on January 10th

“In effect, legal scholars and commentators say there is no case against me. The judge fabricated the facts and the law. It is no different than any other judicial and prosecutorial witch hunt in New York. That’s why companies are fleeing New York, millions of jobs and billions of dollars. Taxes are being taken away, the legal system is broken, and corporations cannot stand a chance of getting caught up in this quicksand. It’s all set against a political enemy, in this case me!” He posted about the incident on Truth Social on Sunday night.
