The White House views the Signal Group chat leak incident as “closed,” Trump Administration Press Office’s Caroline Lewitt told media on Monday.

“The president made it so clear that Mike Waltz continues to be an important part of his national security team,” Leavitt told the media in a simple statement Monday afternoon while playing a gag outside the White House press room. “And this incident is now closed here at the White House as far as we are concerned.”

“There were steps to ensure that something like that clearly wouldn’t happen again,” she continued. “And we are moving forward, and the President, Mike Waltz and his entire national security team have worked together very well.

The Trump administration was scrutinized by Democrats and other critics after Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg revealed in an article released on March 24 that he was added to a signaling group with top national security leaders, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

Signal is an encrypted messaging app that works in the same way as texting and making calls, but also includes additional security measures to ensure that communications with what is included in the communication are kept private.

Trump says the Waltz doesn’t need to apologise for leaks in the signal text chain: “Do his best.”

The Atlantic report characterized the Trump administration as a text message on a “war plan” about a planned strike against the Hooty rebels in Yemen. However, the Trump administration claims that no material classified as chat was sent, and Trump has repeatedly defended the waltz amid fallout.

Waltz was responsible for the inclusion of journalists in high-profile group chats, including an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham.

“I built a group, and my job is to make sure everything is adjusted,” Waltz said in “Ingraham’s angle.”

“Of course I didn’t see this loser in the group. It looked like someone else,” Waltz added. “The person I thought was there wasn’t there.”

Leavitt told media on Wednesday that the administration is investigating the incident, explaining that Elon Musk’s team is also supporting the investigation.

“The National Security Council, the White House Lawyer’s Office and, of course, Elon Musk’s team” will lead the investigation into the signal leak, he said during a White House press conference.

“Elon Musk has offered to feign this to his technical experts to figure out how this number was accidentally added to the chat, take responsibility again and to ensure that this will never happen again,” she continued.

Trump has denounced media coverage of group chats on Sunday afternoon Truth Social Post, calling it a “signal story that never ends.”

“They just don’t stop. They’ll go over and over! Instead of meeting the fake press, they need to explain how successful the attack was and how sleepy Joe Biden should have done it many years ago,” he posted.

“This story and story is very old and boring, but it is only used to have the most successful “first 100 presidential eras” in American history.
