Former “Bachelorette” Katie Thurston confirmed on Instagram on March 28 that breast cancer was stage 4 and spread to the liver.
In a candid update to viewers set 43 days after receiving the cancer diagnosis, Thurston shared that she has not yet begun treatment due to her pre-test and decision to “focus on birth.”
After receiving breast ultrasound, mammograms and breast biopsies, Thurston said he also needs a CT scan, bone density scan and an MRI. She moved Care from a hospital in Los Angeles to New York, where she completed a pet scan.
“Unfortunately, I learned today that my breast cancer is spreading to my liver. But it’s pretty small, but it puts me in four levels,” she said in a video on Friday.
She shared that her treatment will begin next Friday, April 4th, and includes chemotherapy.
“Stage 4 can sound very scary and it can do that. But I’m triple positive and the liver spot is pretty small and detected early.
A triple positive refers to a type of breast cancer that includes cancer cells that grow using three types of receptors, according to a post on the MD Anderson Cancer Center website. This is a subtype of HER2-positive breast cancer “the most treatable type of breast cancer and the most responsive to treatment,” said Dr. Jason Muabi, a breast oncologist, who married comedian Jeff Alkuri on March 22, the following breast medical oncologist Dr. Jason Muabi said: “We’re the most treatable type of breast cancer, and that’s the most responsive type of breast cancer,” said Dr. Jason Muabi, a breast oncologist, a few days after she married comedian Jeff Alkuri on March 22.
She was published on February 15th at a diagnosis.
“This is the first day of sharing and it’s going to be a long one. This first step in accepting reality was the most difficult. But I’m ready to fight this,” she said at the time.
Thurston first appeared on television screens in 2021 as a contestant for “The Bachelor.” He then led the 17th season of “The Bachelorette,” which premiered in June 2021.
