The TV community has lost its shining star.

Kelly Mack is known for his recurring role as Addy in The Walking Dead and for his guest spots in “The 9-1-1” and “Chicago Med”, but her family shared it on social media. She was 33 years old.

“It’s an indelible sadness that we announce the passing of dear Kelly,” her sister Kathryn wrote in an Instagram post on August 5th. “This bright and passionate light has shifted to what we all have to go on in the end.”

The statement continued, Mac (his real name was Kelly Lynn Klebenow) passed away “in peace” along with his mother, Kristen and Aunt Karen.

Kathryn concluded the statement with a special note to all of her sister’s loved ones.

“She wants you to know how much she loves you,” she said. “And as her sister, especially when she decides to make a leap to reunite with God, I want you to know how brave you all are. I’m so proud of her.”

A memorial will be held for Mac, home state in Ohio.

A year before her death, Mac was being treated for a rare cancer called diffuse normal glioma. This is caused by highly aggressive cancerous brain tumors that occur in the median structures of the brain, such as the brain stem, thalamus, and spinal cord.

“For my spinal cord biopsy surgery,” Mac shared on Instagram in January.

Following the procedure, Mac revealed that she is making great progress in recovery and shared a video of her walking around the stairs with the help of her boyfriend Logan.

“I’ve been twice as many up and down these stairs in the last few days,” she wrote on Instagram in March. “That’s a big deal for me. (Life has had ups and downs recently. I’m right).

And while she may have been battling a difficult health journey, Mac has made a big move in her career, including starring in the upcoming film Universal alongside Rosa Robson and Joe Thomas.

Certainly, her acting resume included 32 credits, including playing Addy in five episodes during the ninth season of 2018’s “The Walking Dead” and appearing opposite Harry Shum Jr. in 2024’s “Mr. Manhattan.”

For Mac, her passion for art was born out of her love for storytelling. As she explained on her 2022 Instagram, “I love acting so much, and knowing when others will feel like a story that is so lucky to be part of a sharing is warming me.”
