Kim Kardashian called him death row on Instagram. He is suing

Last February, Kim Kardashian shared a photo of Ivan Kantu on social media, saying he was on death row inmate and that Texas would execute him in two days. Neither was true.

Shared in the photo, Cantu is a resident of Westchester, New York, and has not been sentenced to death for double murder.

However, he is very upset about suing the star for confusion and loss of honor, according to an unpublished civil suit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the complaint, Cantu has Lambast Kardashian for sharing fraudulent photos of his face with over 350 million Instagram followers, and the incident has led to him having serious mental and emotional responses. Kantu has the same name as a Texas death row inmate who died from a fatal injection two days after the Kardashian post.

The late Cantu was convicted in 2000 of murdering his cousin and his cousin’s fiancee. He insisted on his innocence until his death.

Kardashian’s lawyer Michael Rhodes defended the post as “a simple mistake of using a public photo of another man of the same name to promote Kim’s long-standing commitment to the causes of criminal justice reform.” did.

The Instagram post contains a false photo of Cantu and a link to a petition requesting that the District Attorney Collin County withdraw the date of execution.

“The image was immediately deleted once the error was discovered,” Rhodes said in a statement to the Times. “We want to resolve this without a lawsuit, but of course we will defend Kim when necessary.”

Kantu says that although the post was removed, it still caused serious damage to his reputation, exposing him to hatred and lightly empty by mistakenly identifying him as a double murderer.

“Kantu is a serious emotional injury in the form of emotional and mental anguish, psychological harm, embarrassment, anxiety, loss of sleep, nightmares, post-traumatic stress, headaches, medical needs, and serious emotional damage in the form of emotional counseling. and suffered injuries,” the complaint states.

He sues Kardashian to represent him in honour-lib, slander, intentional infringement of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, negligence and false light. He seeks compensation and punitive damages in the amount determined in court.

“Kardashian published and disseminated false information without privilege or permission. Her actions were a standard of ethics and decency that was intentional, negligent, reckless and/or violated,” the complaint states. It states.

Kardashian, who is studying to become a lawyer, began working in criminal justice around 2017 when he learned about the case of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug crime. Ta. In 2018, Celbrity managed to grant Johnson’s tolerance to then-President Trump.
