Local burglars, partly responsible for an increase in the number of home invasions around Los Angeles, first observed high-tech tactical police, which is used by so-called Tourism Bureau robbers to disable security systems and remotely servicing targets.
LAPD chief Jim McDonnell explained Modus surgery on LA-based robbery crews who were arrested during a recent investigation, saying Tuesday “we replicate tactics and MOs of South American robbery crews, using jammers to use more sophisticated pre-surveillance.”
“They may have cameras parked on the street across the street across from the Target House, or in cars parked on the street across from the Target House to determine the pattern of life.
Police said they recently discovered several stakeout vehicles, including Teslas. Teslas has built-in cameras that can be monitored remotely, and other types of cars, with small cameras heading towards the streets and homes of interest.
These and other techniques, such as disconnected mobile phones and data utility lines, have been seen by detectives investigating some of the recent home robberies in Encino and West San Fernando Valley.
The total number of property crimes reported in the city had fallen by nearly 7% by the year, but among these cases, the number of robbers has increased slightly, among which it has increased by about 6% in recent weeks, accounting for around 40 additional home damage.
Recent crime data for the Encino and West Valley areas have not been made available by the LAPD, so it is not clear how many home robberies have occurred in those areas.
Earlier this month, American idol music director Robin Kay and her husband Thomas Deluca were shot dead inside their homes when police said the couple had suspended a few ongoing minutes after police officers failed to confirm reports of the couple’s property breakthrough.
The couple’s bodies wounded the burglar during an early morning robbery three days after another Encino homeowner was found. LAPD says 14-year-old Prowler was arrested after paramedics were called to treat a gunshot wound.
