Los Angeles County has launched a website that tracks the number of rebuilding permits issued in the Pacific Pallisard and Altadena following the January fire.
Both communities were devastated at the beginning of the year when brush fires destroyed two areas, destroyed thousands of structures and forced residents out of their homes. Since then, according to the website, four building permits have been issued in connection with the Eton fire, while zeros have been issued in connection with the Palisade fire.
In addition to showing how many building permits have been issued, the dashboard also shares the number of zoning reviews that have been received and cleared. It also states the number of construction projects completed.
Earlier this month, Altadena residents were disappointed to learn that it took about three months for the first reconstruction permit to be granted in the community. At the time, LA County superintendent Kathryn Berger called it “all unacceptable.”
The next day, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted in favor of streamlining the permitting process through the new unified permitting authority. The county is planning to set up an agency in Altadena to promote restoration efforts.
