Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faced backlash on social media on Friday, including members of the Trump administration, as she pushed back immigration and customs enforcement raids targeting illegal immigrants in her city.

“I was reported to federal immigration enforcement measures at several locations in Los Angeles this morning,” Bus said in a statement Friday.

“As mayors of a proud immigrant city who contributes to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angry at what happened. These tactics inhaling fear in our communities and disrupt the fundamental principles of safety in our cities.

The mayor’s statement, which has earned over 2 million impressions of X, attracted immediate pushback from conservatives, pointing to criticism of leadership, preparation and Los Angeles’ devastating wildfires that killed 30 people earlier this year.

“I have nothing to say about this,” Stephen Miller posted to Deputy Chiefs of Staff XX at White House. “Federal law is the highest and federal law will come into effect.”

“The number of elected officials who do not know the fundamentals of federalism, or federal sovereignty over immigration issues, or federal sovereignty over the first amendment, is surprising,” the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Attorney General posted on X.

“They are illegal,” President Sebastian Gorka’s assistant assistant posted to X. Not “immigrants.” If you’re helping them, you’re ready to treat them as a criminal, so you tried to help them.

“People are unable to get permission to rebuild their homes after a wildfire, but they are focusing on stopping immigration enforcement like a laser beam,” Red Statewriter Bonsy posted on X.

“Communist sympathizer Karen Bass is on the side of American citizens vs illegal alien criminals,” conservative communicator Steve Guest posted on X.

“La Mayor Karen Bass is committed to protecting illegals in her city,” conservative influencer account Libsoftiktok posted on X.

“If only Karen Bass fought the Los Angeles fire, then the fire would have happened just like she would fight for illegal aliens,” GOP MP Darrell Issa posted on X.

The Associated Press reported that immigration advocates have confirmed that at least 45 people have been arrested at seven locations. The location included two home depost stores, a fashion district store and a donut shop, according to Angelica Salas, executive director of the Humanitarian Immigration Rights Union (Chirla).

Videos of the operation, filmed by bystanders and TV news crews, showed people escorted across the parking lot at Home Depot. The video captured a clash between protesters and federal agents on detention sites.

The bus drew more criticism online from users accusing protesters of stirring as the protests grew on Friday evening, with riot-equipped law enforcement having to bring in to calm the crowd.

“Karen Bass whipped all of this,” the Special President’s Envoy for Rick Grenell’s special mission posted on X. “She attacked the rule of law. She undermined democracy.

Fox News Digital has requested comment from the mayor’s office.

In addition to the controversy, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement saying it was not involved in deportation or immigration enforcement.

“Today, LAPD has noticed that federal law enforcement agencies have been operating in the city of Los Angeles. They know that these actions are causing anxiety for many Angelenos, so LAPD is not involved in civil immigration enforcement.”

“Although LAPD will continue to have a visible presence in all communities to ensure public safety, it will not support or participate in any large-scale deportation of any kind, and LAPD will not attempt to determine the status of individual immigration.”

That position has attracted criticism on social media, including Homeland Security Director Tricia McLaughlin.

“They attacked the ice enforcers, slashed the tires and tainted the building,” she posted. “800 protesters surrounded and violated the first tier of the federal law enforcement building in LA. @lapd
Not responding. This violence against @icegov must stop. ”

“We don’t support this,” McLaughlin said in a Saturday morning post that it includes graffiti photos of the rant at the scene with messages such as “Kill Ice” and “f*** Ice.”

The guest added in another post. “The fact that LAPD is not responding is a huge scandal. La Mayor Karen Bass has previously refused to restore law and order, as this violence against federal law enforcement is raging.
