LA Metro will offer free rides on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as part of its annual effort to help passengers travel safely during the holidays, officials announced today.
Starting Tuesday, the transit agency will offer free rides from 4 a.m. to 3 a.m. Dec. 25.
Metro officials said customers can use the code “Merry24” to receive a free Metro Micro ride.
Metrobikes will also be free from December 24th to January 1st (code 010125), according to the transit agency.
Metrolink, on the other hand, offers $10 holiday passes on Christmas and New Year’s Day, giving you unlimited rides systemwide on the day of purchase.
This pass can be purchased through the Metrolink mobile app or from the ‘Special Event Tickets’ option at station ticket machines. Metrolink ticket holders will receive free transportation to many local public transportation options, including LA Metro bus and rail lines, Metro said.
Starting January 1, customers will be able to connect to Metro’s A Line at LA Union Station, providing easy access to Pasadena and the Rose Parade route.
To help Los Angeles County residents and visitors arrive at the parade on time, Metrolink is adding early morning trains to the Ventura County Line, Orange County Line, and 91/Perris Valley Line, as well as the Antelope Valley Line and San Bernardino Line. We plan to adjust the operation of Trains arrive at LA Union Station between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM. Trains will also run in the early afternoon to allow participants to return home after the parade.
