The driver, who abandoned the stolen pickup and entered another, went in the wrong way on the street on Wednesday afternoon in a chase near downtown Los Angeles.
The pursuit began in Norwalk after reports of the stolen vehicle. The driver of that pickup stopped and appeared to enter another pickup with a driver already behind the wheel and plenty of items in the bed.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver in the second pickup had been carjacked or an accomplice.
The pursuit resumed a few miles ago, when the driver stopped and surrendered to CHP, located on the side of the highway east of downtown Los Angeles. When the driver was in custody, the passengers drove with white pickups.
The driver left on the street near downtown Los Angeles and took the highway through the neighborhood. The pickup crashed at the median, sometimes heading in the wrong direction to an oncoming vehicle.
The driver attacked his bike on a crosswalk on Wilshire Boulevard near downtown Los Angeles.
Law enforcement officials chased him in downtown Los Angeles. The pickup appeared to enter a tunnel near the Angels Flight Railway on Grand Avenue, but did not come out.
It was discovered that the pickup was later abandoned in the area.
No arrests were reported early Wednesday afternoon.
