LA Street Food Vendors Provide Free Food to Homeless Residents Heavily Beated by Attackers

A popular food vendor at Skid Row, LA, offers free meals to the homeless on Skid Row, has been brutally beaten by suspects remaining throughout.

Chris Bailey, known in Tiktok as @kloverkinglosangeles, is usually seen in busy streets cooking in his food cart on the busy streets of downtown Los Angeles and serving meals to stop by.

On April 22, about noon, Bailey set up a station near 1st Avenue and Grand Avenue when he approached a stranger and was beaten violently during the day.

Chris Bailey, known in Tiktok as @kloverkinglosangeles, was providing food to homeless residents in downtown Los Angeles when he was violently beaten by a surviving suspect on April 22, 2025 (KTLA). “I was packing, I was putting my car back into the car and coming back out of nowhere, and turned around and this guy said, ‘This is for Grizzy’ and he slammed me in the face,” recalls Bailey. “The paramedic said he definitely had a metal object in his hand. I wasn’t sure if it was a gun and a brass knuckle, but he cut me down all over my face and eyelids. I have eight stitches on my face.”

He was unaware of the attacker, but suspects that he was sent by someone he has known for a while, someone he has known for a while. He didn’t name the vendor, but he believes that the person has problems with social media success.

“I have faithful support from Tiktok,” Bailey told KTLA’s John Fenoklio. “I know that a lot of people have inspired me to get better.”

Bailey said he was forced to give back to the community because he once suffered from addiction and homelessness.

“I was calm and free from addiction, so I was just trying to help people,” he said. “I’ve used street food to get out of homelessness. That’s what I want to do and I’m paying forward for that.”

Each weekend, Bailey and his crew feed homeless residents in the Greater LA area, so long lines can be seen under the block. He often posts about Tiktok food service and relies on donations and generosity of over 381,000 followers to maintain a free meal.

After the devastating wildfires in January, Bailey helped organize a free donation and cooking meal for thousands of volunteers and fire victims at the Santa Anita Race Track.

Bailey says he is shocked and angry at the assault, but he is grateful to be alive and has no plans to stop feeding anyone who needs a hot meal.

“I feel a lot of pain,” he said. “I will never give up. This will not stop me. I am a street vendor. I live my best life. I am trying to raise my daughter the right way.

The attackers remain large and anyone who witnessed the attack or has information is urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department at 1-877-527-3247.
