Fires on the lake near Hesperia continue to infuriate with little containment Sunday morning.
According to the latest Cal Fire update at 7:30am, the flame was 478 acres and 10% containment. It was first reported near the Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area on Saturday before 4pm.
A mandatory evacuation order has been issued in the area south of the 138 Expressway between the 15-173 expressways. Authorities say some of the 15, the busiest highways in the area, are affected due to fire behavior and vision concerns.
There are also evacuation warnings in areas north of 138, west of 173, east and east of Summit Valley Road.

“Weather conditions play an important role in fire activity,” Cal Fire said in an overview of the lake’s fire situation on Saturday night, explaining that strong evening winds gradually decrease, relative humidity increases, and help reduce fire behavior.
