One suspect is in custody and another suspect is being sought after an intrusion at a Los Angeles police yard that could have attempted to steal a catalytic converter from an aggressive patrol vehicle Thursday morning.
Police responded to a report of suspects cutting off a LAPD vehicle in the 500 block of Ramirez Avenue just after 3am, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed to KTLA.
The video shows multiple patrol vehicles, and the air unit responds and sees a large group of police officers with guns depicting guns searching for salvage yards for the suspects.
The man will be taken into custody after a break-in at a police rescue yard in downtown Los Angeles on July 31, 2025.
At one point, the video filmed cutting tools that appeared to remain under the vehicle by one of the suspects.
A spokesman confirmed that one suspect was taken into custody, but the second one is still outstanding.
The suspect is allegedly stole catalytic converters from several retired LAPD vehicles, reported freelance media company Ang News. A police spokesman could not immediately confirm what the suspect wanted.
Alexis Lewis of KTLA contributed to this report.
