A large group of masked thieves of potentially as many as 30 people crashed into two jewellery stores in Artesia on Tuesday, shattering display cases and horrifying business owners just before closing time.
The robbery happened just before 6pm on Pioneer Boulevard. Surveillance video shows you breaking through a glass display with a suspect in a dark parka carrying the tool, grabbing an invaluable number of valuables, and running away within about 20 seconds.
On July 1, 2025, dozens of suspects broke into two Artesia jewelry stores, destroying displays and stole an unfair amount of valuables.
On Thursday, the store boarded with plywood covering the windows.
The business owner told KTLA’s Kimberly Chen that the store has security measures, including using a buzzer to let someone inside. But in this example, a large group ran through doors and windows, breaking their way.
One of the shopkeepers says they have never seen anything like that.
“We were the first in this plaza. We actually built this shop and have been here since January 1993, and that never happened to us,” said Friha, the shop owner. “It’s very traumatic for us and we don’t know how we handle it.”
Witnesses said another jewellery store next to Friha had broken at the same time.
As many as 30 thieves jumped into several getaway vehicles, one witness told Chen.
“Everyone is scared of business here. Small businesses, some are scared,” the witness said.
The amount stolen is still unknown, but the damage was extensive, with glass doors, windows and display cases shattered inside the store, and an unknown amount of goods were photographed.
Glass doors have been shattered in the office building on the second floor. Authorities are investigating. No arrests have been announced.
The owner says he doesn’t know how much these robbers cost.
