A nonprofit dedicated to the rights of Muslim Americans said it welcomes the hate crime investigation being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement is looking for a man who threatened and harassed Agra Hills’ families last year by displaying the Palestinian flag. According to LASD, the man hurt the doors of his family’s home when he made racist remarks against residents and when he actively slammed it.
The conflict was reported on September 28, 2024 around 2pm and occurred in the 30,400 block of the aisle location, officials said. The man was said to be 30 years old and was wearing a white shirt, black pants and glasses at the time.
The Greater Los Angeles Regional Office of the Council on American and Islamic Relations (Cair-la) called aggression “a surprising act,” saying “we should not face harassment or threats just to display a flag representing our identity or a call to justice.”
“We must remain vigilant against all forms of hatred and ensure that our community can safely express our identity and stand up to justice and human rights,” the organization’s statement read. “We praise the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this incident as a hate crime and encourage full accountability to the perpetrators.”
Anyone with information about the case will be asked to contact LASD detective Aquino at Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on 818-878-1808.
