The much-anticipated LAX/Metro Transit Center Station has an opening.
The station near Aviation Boulevard and 96th Avenue will open on June 6th and will provide an important part of the transportation planning to provide seamless service between the airport and its regional rail system.
“The wait is almost over, Los Angeles,” Metro Commission Chairman and Los Angeles County Superintendent Janice Hahn said in a statement. “Finally, we’re getting a loose train.
“And once Lax People Mover finally opens, there’s really an international airport that connects people from within the terminal through the metro and connects people to the world. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. See you at the opening on June 6th.”
The supervisor shared the news at the Metro board’s monthly meeting.
According to the agency, the station is a new multimodal transport hub along the Metro K line, offering greater access between Redondo Beach on Crenshaw Boulevard and Metro E (Expo). it is

The K-Line operates only between Westchester and Crenshaw E-Line Stations. When a new station opens, the K-Line extends south of Westchester to Redondo Beach Station. The Metro C (Green) Line, which now runs between Redondo Beach and Norwalk, will instead run between Norwalk and the new Aviation/Century station south of the airport, allowing riders to connect to the K-line.
According to the Metro, the new station will also offer a multi-level bike hub with parking, a pedestrian plaza and areas for passenger vehicle pickup and drop-off. The property also features 16 Baybas Plaza.
