Americans are in a hurry to obtain state-issued real IDs to travel by plane ahead of the federal deadline next month. This will change the laws surrounding driver’s licenses for coast to coast to allow illegal immigrants to drive.
Americans need to get their actual ID. This requires you to obtain a federal driver’s license or other ID that meets higher standards than a state-issued license. Only legal US citizens or residents can obtain identification, but a valid US passport can also be used to replace your actual domestic air travel ID.
Congress passed the Real ID Act in 2005 in response to the 9/11 attacks to increase security requirements for drivers’ licenses. While some states began to comply with the law more than a decade ago, all state enforcement has been repeatedly delayed due to the pandemic, the DMV backlog, and some states, such as the South Carolina.
The move to formally enforce actual IDs at the national level for domestic air travel will see 19 states and Washington, D.C. publish laws in the book, allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.

The states, which spread from New York and New Jersey to California and Washington, have changed laws to allow illegal immigrants to drive freely, while at the same time they can get auto insurance to meet driving skills requirements and enhance road safety, various liberal lawmakers and immigration advocacy groups said they have strengthened their support for the changes in the law.
For example, New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, Democrat, said in 2019, “Expanding access to drivers’ licenses is a step towards building a safer state in New Jersey and a stronger and more equitable New Jersey,” for example, after signing Garden State laws and allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver licenses.

“Giving residents the opportunity to obtain a driver’s license regardless of their immigration status will reduce the number of uninsured drivers and increase road safety. We would like to thank our council partners for sending this important bill to their desks,” he added.

Just a few months after New Jersey’s 2021 law change, the state has issued 100,000 new permits. This is a 65% jump compared to the same three months a few years ago, NJ Spotlight News reported at the time.

New Jersey is one of the states that reported long waits on DMVS as residents scrambled to obtain their actual ID ahead of the May 7 deadline.
Statements that allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia and Virginia. Washington state had a book law that allowed illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses since 1993, and the state legislature’s national meeting began to begin changing the law from 2012.
In Massachusetts in 2022, Republican Gov. Charlie Baker rejected a law that would allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.

“You cannot sign this law because the automobile registry requires people to issue state qualifications without the ability to verify their identity. The registry does not have the expertise or ability to validate the validity of many types of documents from other countries,” Baker said. “As a result, standard Massachusetts driver’s licenses no longer confirm that people are the ones they say.”
Massachusetts ultimately allowed illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses through the voting initiative.

The Trump administration, which is plagued by illegal immigration blitz, revealed in a memo last week that actual ID requirements will further crack down on illegal aliens who move freely around the country.

A Homeland Security memo obtained exclusively by Fox Digital last week outlined that part of the Trump administration’s motivation for enforcing actual ID laws is to prevent people in the country from flying illegally, unless they are seeking self-promotion in international flights.
“Under Biden, illegal aliens have used non-compliant IDs from sanctuary cities for flights, but higher security standards for actual IDs make it nearly impossible to build legitimate documents and only verified travelers can fly,” the memo says.
“This closes the vulnerable vulnerabilities that Biden’s policy was created and prevents criminals and potential terrorists from exploiting the aviation system, as seen on 9/11, when fraudulent IDs allowed the attack,” the memo continues.

The agency stressed that the measure would prevent people from illegally traveling within the United States.
“The DHS and TSA are clear. The only place where illegal aliens should fly is in their homes. Under the leadership of Chief Christie Noem, illegal aliens are prohibited from domestic flights, with one exception.
Many conservatives supported the actual ID Act, but both in 2005 and now say “Big Brother” emphasizes the country’s surveillance.

“Obviously, the existing ID requirements for American citizens are not enough now, so Big Brother is forcing us through more hoops to guide our ‘rights’ to travel in our country,” former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin posted on X.
“If you think your actual ID is about the integrity of the election, you’ll be seriously disappointed. Someone lied to you or you’re engaged in hopeful thoughts. Don’t shoot messenger,” R-Ky.
