Left-wing filmmaker Oliver Stone weaponized federal law enforcement agencies that attempted to accuse the president of Russia’s conspiracy during the 2016 election, and accused Democrats of “liing.”
Meanwhile, Stone praised President Donald Trump for taking steps to find out what actually happened, adding that it was “absolutely” right that the federal government was weaponized to attack political enemies.
Trump recently signed a new executive order dictating the FBI to instantly classify files related to Crossfire Hurricane. This was the first survey launched in 2016, seeking information on whether members of the Trump campaign were colluding with Russians to undermine the election. The president also took steps to chase after law firms involved in the scandal, including halting security clearances for lawyers and banning them from entering federal buildings.

“Russiagate – we paid for it,” Stone said. “I applaud [what Trump is doing]and I hate that they were russiagate, I really do. Again, lies, lies, lies, and selling them to the American people. ”
When he was asked if he felt Trump was right about the federal weaponization of conservatives, Stone replied, “It’s there.”
Stone, who has produced several documentaries in support of Russian stories about Ukraine, added that the underlying premise behind Russia (Russia is a malicious actor) is wrong and “non-American.”

“They are potentially our best partners, like the Chinese, so there’s this idea that they’re enemies,” Stone said. “It’s all instilled through propaganda. When you go out to China and Russia, you don’t hear such in vituperative dialogue.”

However, Stone said he agreed to Trump’s approach to taking on those involved in Russiagate, but he lamented the president’s attacks on Palestinian pro-protesters over allegations of anti-Semitism.

“I don’t like this new thing about censorship that comes from Trump,” Stone said. “The opposite — what he calls “anti-Semitic news” — I mean, I disagree. I don’t know where he came from. That’s not what he promised. ”
