Senator Lisa Murkowski and R-La of R-Alaska. Senator Bill Cassidy of both announced they would vote to ensure former Senator Tulsi Gabbard will serve as head of the National Intelligence Election.
In party-affiliated votes on Monday, Murkowski, Cassidy and other Republican senators who voted for them chose to proceed with the confirmation process by supporting the cloudure.
“I will vote to confirm Tarshi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence,” declared Markowski in a post on X.

“I am concerned about the specific position she has taken before, but she says she will restrain the large scope of the agency while allowing ODNI to continue its important functions to maintain national security. I am grateful for the commitment of the senator,” continued the senator.
“I rely on her to ensure that American citizens’ safety and civil liberties remain strictly protected, as she brings independent thinking and necessary surveillance to her new role. .”
Murkowski voted against confirming that Pete Hegseth will serve as Secretary of Defense last month.

“President Trump has chosen Tarsi Gabbard as his point figure regarding the foreign intelligence news,” Cassidy said in a statement. “I trust President Trump for this decision and vote for her confirmation.”
Gabbard, who served in Congress from early 2013 to early 2021, announced that she would leave the Democrats in 2022.

Last year, she announced she was supporting Trump at the 2024 presidential contest and joining the Republican Party.
