The crowd took over the intersection in Long Beach, bought the streets and looted nearby markets early on Monday.
Videos from the scene showed a large group of people at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Harding Street.
Some people in that crowd entered the J and G market, leaving behind a huge uproar. Store employees were cleaning Monday mornings as glass, broken displays and snacks were everywhere.
A red car is seen doing doughnuts, approaching the crowd dangerously, and it looks like someone has fired up fireworks. The crowd ran off when they heard the police siren.
The crowd then went to the market wearing hoodie jackets, with some appearing to be wearing masks to cover their faces.
Two women in the area told NBC4 that once these streets pass, it has been happening at the intersection almost every weekend for the past five to six months.
But they say this is the first time a crowd has plundered a store. Marty Johnson, who lives nearby, says the crowd “sometimes the police can’t even get through. They can block all traffic.”
“This is our neighborhood. We still have to live here when they do riots and all of that. These little kids are very different from when we were growing up.
