Look at the country under Trump’s new travel ban – NBC Los Angeles

President Donald Trump cites reasons why 19 countries in the US are under new travel bans or restrictions

They include allegations of loose screening of travelers, “the presence of important terrorists” in their territory, and governments that were not cooperative enough to accept deported citizens or residents who tend to continue visas in the United States.

This is 12 countries placed under the ban and seven countries placed under travel restrictions.

It is prohibited from travelling to the US

Afghanistan Chad Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Haiti Iran Libya Myanmar Congo Congo Somali Sudan Yemen

Restricted to travel in the US

Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra, Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela

Restrictions from these countries affect people with these temporary visas (B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, F, M, and J visas).

When will the travel ban be effective?

The ban will take effect Monday at 12:01am. This is a cushion that may avoid the confusion that was rolled out at airports around the country in 2017 when similar measures were virtually notified.

Are there any exemptions from travel bans?

Yes, there are a few exceptions to the travel ban.

Legal Residents: Legal Permanent Residents of the United States (Green Cardholders) Citizens from the country in the order of being legal permanent residents of Dual Nationals: US citizens who also have one citizen of an individual in a US family who applies for a visa in connection with their spouse, children, or parents. Representatives of international organizations and NATO regarding official visits of diplomats and foreign government officials travelling with non-immigrants in effect for official visits, as well as for the World Cup, Olympics, or other major sporting events, or representatives of NATO. Refugees: Those who have been granted asylum or recognized as refugees by the United States are Afghans who worked for Afghanistan or its allies before enacting Afghanistan on a special immigration visa and are the owners of Afghanistan special immigration visas. Iranians belonging to ethnic or religious minorities fleeing prosecution. Certain foreign employees and their spouses and children of the US government who have been working abroad for at least 15 years. Children adopted by US citizens

Why is Trump putting travel restrictions on citizens in these countries?

In a video released on social media, Trump said he signed a new ban on Sunday’s terrorist attacks in Boulder, Colorado, highlighting the dangers posed by excessive visa visitors. The suspects in the attack came from Egypt, a country not on Trump’s restricted list. The Department of Homeland Security says he has overstayed tourist visas.

Trump said there are screenings and screenings that are “sufficient” in some countries, or that he historically refused to regain his citizens. His findings rely widely on the annual Homeland Security Report of visa visas for tourists, business visitors, students arriving in the air and the ocean, picking out countries with the highest percentage remaining after visas expire.
