Wildfires in the wilderness of Central California coasts grew to more than 52,500 acres Friday as fire-prone states enter hot, dry summer months.
The Madrefire, which is burning warm in San Luis Obispo County, was 10% included after it began Wednesday. This year marks the biggest wildfire in California.
Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for small communities near Route 166 in the state. The flames were burning on the dry grassy hillside towards Kariso Hirano National Monument.
Part of Route 166 remained closed.
The area is approximately 125 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
In Southern California, wolves’ fires have reached 65% containment after burning more than 2,400 acres of drybrush since it broke on June 29th in Riverside County, eastern Los Angeles. Containment trapped at more than 90% due to the 750-acre Juniper Fire in Riverside County and the nearly 500-acre lake fire in San Bernardino County.
