The 34-year-old man accused of shooting his parents in Louisiana was arrested in Los Angeles on Friday evening, the LA County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies from the Tangipa Hoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) were dispatched on Thursday to conduct a welfare check at a residence on Eastwood Drive near Amite, Louisiana, according to LASD release.
Amite City (pronounced AY-MEET) is located about 75 miles north of New Orleans in southeastern Louisiana.

Upon arriving at the Eastwood Drive home, deputies discovered that two people had died, one in the residence and one in the property. They were identified as 75-year-old Mark Brokart and Priscilla Brokart, 66-year-old husband and wife.
“Their son, Joshua Brokert, was not accounted for and was initially sought as an interested person,” LASD said in a press release issued early Sunday afternoon. “Following the couple’s autopsy, two arrest warrants have been issued by TPSO for Joshua Brocart’s first-degree murder.”
Joshua Brokart is seen in photos released by the Tangipa Hoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary investigation of TPSO decided that Mark and Priscilla Brokart were shot dead between March 31st and April 1st, and within three days of the murder Joshua fled to California. Therefore, TPSO contacted its Southern California law enforcement counterpart to keep an eye on Brokert and his car, the white Ford E-150 van.
According to LASD, the van matching that description was located in the 5400 block of Fairfax Avenue in Ladera Heights around 5:45pm on Friday, and deputies then implemented a traffic stop and detained the sole resident of the van, Brocato.

“Deputies confirmed that Joshua Brokart was wanted by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for two counts of first-degree murder,” Lasd said. “A lawmaker at Marina del Rey station has arrested Brokart for a warrant for TPSO’s murder arrest.”
While Brokart was arrested, deputies discovered he was in possession of several loaded guns, including body armor and an assault rifle. He was attacked by several other charges, including possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm, possession of an assault weapon, and alteration or deletion of the firearm’s serial number.
